Tanksforsale has recently aquired another Ot810 halftrack. I hope to keep this vehicle for hire purposes and for the time being it is not for sale.
The Ot810 halftrack was the continued production of the famous German WW2 Armoured sdkfz 251 halftrack. Much has been written about the Sdkfz 251, but little about the post war OT810. I have owned a number of Ot810 in recent years and have gained a little knowledge of this iconclastic vehicle.
To the casual observer the Ot810 is very similar to the Sdkfz 251, in fact many Ot810 with only so much as a coat of paint have been used in many WW2 war movies unchanged....However.....
Almost every detail of the vehicle has been changed from the original apart from the gearbox and wheels. The lower hull is a different shape, as is the nose is 15cm longer and the front armour wider(to accomodate the tatra 928 diesel engine). The fighting compartment was completely closed. The steering mechanism was simplified, the front sprockets and tracks changed, Even the frame rails are made of a (thicker) gauge steel than the originall
All that being said the Ot810 together with the G13 are the only "German" WW2 armoured vehicles available on the market for collectors. |
